Wedded Bliss - Part 1

By request, here are some photos from one of the absolute best days of my life. These photographs were taken by my incredibly talented aunt, Patti. Thanks, Patti!

 I love you, Dad!

Two of the cutest girls I know!

Trust my husband to make a goofy face. Gosh, I love him.

Emslee was so much happier with her daddy there. As a matter of fact, we all were jumping for joy that Jason could be a part of the celebration.

My bridesmaids saved my life!!! They handled all sorts of hiccups without my even knowing. They're amazing.

The entire Tanner family. So grateful that Jason could be there.
A few bites of Smokey Joe's Pizza to tide us over.

A little wedding video

Just thought you might be interested in this. My friend, Doug, put this little beauty together, and I absolutely love it. He is so talented!

Spring Break - Day 1

Day 1 of Spring Break was designated "I wanna lay here in my pajamas and be lazy" day. My plans worked out perfectly, if I do say so myself.

My day consisted of:

this

plus a little napping

and

a trip to the dentist.

All in all, it was a pretty good day. We also visited my family for Easter treats and FHE. Pure bliss.

There was this one time that I was a movie star...

In November, I was asked to help with a film about Tanner Dance on the campus of the University of Utah. Tanner Dance was looking to encourage donations to their program so that students like mine can continue to benefit from dance in the classroom. I love Tanner Dance, and I feel like it enriches my students' school experience. Plus, it's kind of exciting to see my name on the screen like that. :)

Thoughts on being a bridezilla

Hello friends...

No, I'm not married yet, but I thought I'd squeeze in just a little post before the big day because I've got LOTS on my mind...

There are lots of things I should be doing -
1. Preparing for Parent Teacher Conferences tomorrow and Thursday. I'm sorry - don't the powers-that-be realize that I'm getting married next week? I don't have the space in my brain to talk with parents for two nights about how their children are doing in third grade. Maybe I can fake it... I know! I'll just hand each of them an invitation to the reception and maybe they'll understand why their child's teacher is acting like a spaz.
2. Preparing Thank You gifts for the wonderful people who are saving my bacon as we speak... I hope you know who you are.
3. Washing my dishes.... I even filled up the sink with hot, soapy water. It's just waiting for me to walk in there and plunge my hands in and scrub, scrub, scrub.
4. Going to the Post Office and bank... errands don't wait.
5. Getting little "14 Days of Valentines" gifts for my sweetheart. We figured if we started on Valentines' Day, our last "Day of Valentines" would be our wedding day...

But instead, I sit here on my couch in my apartment, staring at the mountain of wedding "stuff" that is appearing more and more cluttered every day and thinking about how I should be doing this better.

I have become a bridezilla, I fear.

A "good" bride would host some sort of party for all of her bridesmaids, since they are, in fact, her closest friends. She would involve them in all the little details of the planning and make it a grand adventure. She would most definitely NOT act snippy or forget to tell them what the plan is for the wedding weekend. She would make time for them and nurture those friendships.

Well, I am not a "good" bride. I did forget to tell one of my very dearest friends what the plan is for the wedding day and the open house the day after. I haven't kept in touch with any of my bridesmaids like I should. I'm hoping that they feel involved, but I fear they don't. The last thing I want is for them to feel like I'm taking advantage of them, but I'm afraid my actions say otherwise. That makes me a "bridezilla."

I'm caught up in thinking about minor details of the day... the color of the plates, the decorations, if the music will be loud enough... Clue #2 that I've become the dreaded "bridezilla."

I've also caught myself thinking, "Only nine more days, and then everything can get back to normal." Yeah right. Only if normal means a man living in my house, sharing a bank account, and cooking dinner for two every  night.

There is no more normal. At least, not like I'm used to.

Don't get me wrong - I am positively thrilled to be marrying my sweetheart. I just wish I knew how to do this right... with no "bridezilla"ness and more focus on what's really important...
That I get to spend eternity with the man I love more than life.

Here's the "wedding corner." Yes - It is sideways. It's a metaphor. ;)

Love Birds

Hello there, friends!

My heart is filled to the brim these days with love and excitement because in six short (really? short?) weeks, I will become Mrs. Josh Tanner. I can't even put into words how giddy, excited, and delighted I am about becoming the wife of this wonderful man.

As I am sure you know... wedding planning takes over your life. So, I probably won't be blogging much until after Feb. 28, after which time you can expect to see loads of wedding pictures, and a complete retelling of my personal love story. Stay tuned!

A couple of new loves

Floral scarves are oh-so-pretty.
Found here.

This stuff is fantastic. It makes my hair silky smooth. I've fallen in love and I'll never go back.
